Electric cars are more efficient than petrol cars, but where do you think that energy comes from?
Electric cars may not produce any emissions themselves, but they are still dependent on fossil fuels. By charging an electric car on renewable energy like solar or wind, we can be nearly emission free.
At present we are charging electric cars through conventional electricity which is generated by using fossil fuels. One unit of electricity produced from the coal power plant is responsible for 0.953 kgs of CO2 equivalent. Whereas switching to renewable energy reduces the aforementioned amount of CO2 that would have been otherwise emitted into the atmosphere.
Electric Vehicles Integrated with Renewable Energy Sources is a promising solution and makes the transportation greener.
